Comments Graduated from School of Medicine, Hiroshima University, Japan in 1979. Professor and Chairman of the department of Psychiatry and Neurosciences, Hiroshima University(1990-2017) and now Special-appointed Professor and Professor Emeritus(2017-). President of the International College of Geriatric Psychoneuropharmacology (ICGP) (2006-2008), a founding President of the Asian College of Neuropsychopharmacology (AsCNP) (2008-2010), President of the International College of Neuropsychopharmacology (CINP) (2014-2016) and a chief of the Brain and Mind Science Committee of the Japan Science Council (2014-).
His majors are clinical psychiatry, neurobiology and neuroimaging of depressive disorder. His recent interests are focused on the neuroimaging study on affection and KANSEI using functional MRI (fMRI) and artificial intelligence (AI) technology. He has served as a team leader of AMED Depression Brain Science Research Project and a research leader of Center of Innovation (COI), KANSEI Research Project(2013-2020).
