Comments My research has focused on the interplay of immigration and religious faiths, adressing the questions of how immigrants reconstruct their faiths, how their realigned religious "traditions" affect their social capital development and civic engagement drawing on field ethnographic and archival research on the religious life of the South Asian and African diaspora populations in the Caribbean and the West Indian migrant community in South Florida. Based on research findings from my exploration of immigrant faith thus far, I have started a preliminary study on the implications of religious faith for social capital development and civic engagement among Asian immigrants in Japan.
