Comments NAGASAKA Itaru has been conducting anthropological fieldwork on Filipino migration for more than 20 years. He started his first fieldwork in the rural areas of the Ilocos region as a student at the Asian Center, University of the Philippines in 1992. Since then, he has worked on Filipino transnational migration and did fieldwork in the Philippines, Italy, France, UK and Japan. From 2009 to 2015, he headed a research project funded by JSPS on the 1.5 generation Filipinos living in different countries. He is currently leading the international collaborative project on how Filipino workers in different countries have been affected by the Pandemic. He is the author of Filipino Transnational Villagers: Anthropology of Transnationalism (in Japanese, 2009) and co-editor (with Asuncion Fresnoza-Flot) of Mobile Childhoods in Filipino Transnational Families: Migrant Children with Similar Roots in Different Routes (2015).
