Research Keywords The United States / Religion / Politics
Comments My research interest is the relationship between politics and religion in the United States. I have mainly focused on how conservative protestants "evangelicals" became politically involved and influential in the Republican Party. My doctoral dissertation dealt with the evangelist Billy Graham's relationship with politicians like President Nixon. I am currently researching how theologian Francis Schaeffer has discussed life issues such as abortion and same-sex marriage.
