My research areas include Pragmatics [語用論], Psycholinguistics (心理言語学), and Globalization [グローバリゼーション]. 1. Pragmatics is the study of Language in Use through the analysis of Speech Acts (conversational events). Speech Acts can be investigated through the assumption of a Cooperation Principle (cooperation between speakers), Conversational Maxims, Politeness Theory, Status Differences. Turn-taking, Implicature, Intra-cultural/Cross-cultural Comparisons, etc. My current research in Pragmatics focuses on Intercultural Sensitivity Development in International English-medium of Instruction (EMI) Programs. 2. Psycholinguistics examines the role of psychology and linguistics in the comprehension, production, and acquisition of human languages. Topics such as second language acquisition, cross-linguistic influences and L1-L2 transfer, cognitive embodiment, language deficits and attrition will be discussed throughout the course leading to a deeper understanding of how languages are learned and acquired. My current research in Psycholinguistics includes cross-linguistic investigations of Prepositions (前置詞) of Time (時間) and Space (空間), for example: In, On, and At. 3. Globalization concerns the gradual integration of all institutions (e.g., Governments, Businesses, Banking, and Health Care) throughout the world to implement policies for climate change, population control, technocracy, health management, etc. Currently organizations such as The World Economic Forum (WEF), The International Pandemic Treaty and One World Health policies (The World Health Organization—WHO); Population Control and the implementation of an Institutional management system throughout the world (The United Nations Corporation/Organization—UN); and the Global Carbon Tax to fund The World Government (The Club of Rome) are structuring our futures through policies and treaties that will create a World Government. My current research of Contemporary World Issues attempts to illustrate how these policies effect our lives. |
