Comments I am a cultural anthropologist and public intellectual working at the intersections of Japanese popular culture, media studies, and identity formation. With a doctoral background in musicology and graduate training in French linguistics and Japanese studies, my research bridges disciplines, languages, and continents.

Born in Bucharest (Romania) in 1977, I have lived, taught, and conducted research in Germany and Japan since 2000. My work investigates the aesthetics and politics of mass media, popular expression, and collective emotion, with particular emphasis on gender, masculinity, and the phenomenology of desire and seduction.

Ongoing projects explore stoicism as a daily practice and existential joy as a mode of resistance within institutional and cultural constraints. These efforts reflect my ongoing commitment to international scholarship, public engagement, and educational excellence—regardless of institutional obstacles.

I remain committed to high-impact research, meaningful transnational collaboration, and the democratization of academic knowledge—within and beyond the university.
Selected public-facing research is also available via my YouTube channel and independent web-journal, Vitixa.
