Comments Born in Otsu, Shiga Prefecture. After graduating from Hiroshima University, he completed the first half of his doctoral studies at the same university. He went on to study at the Karlsruhe University of Music and Music's Graduate School of Artist Training Course and the Graduate School of the State Performer Examination Course at the same university, where he achieved the highest unanimous score by the judges and obtained the "German State Performer Qualification." He performed at the 31st Kitakyushu Art Festival. He was a long-term overseas researcher dispatched by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (Germany) for one year. He was also an overseas trainee at the Hiroshima University Graduate School of Education (Germany). In his recitals in Germany, he was praised for his "attention to detail in the music and rich overall composition," and for his performance with an orchestra, for "a virtuoso performance with extremely high expressiveness" (both in the Baden Shimpo newspaper, Germany). While living in Germany, he performed not only in Germany, but also in Croatia (Zagreb) and Bosnia and Herzegovina (Sarajevo). After returning to Japan, he regularly holds solo recitals while teaching undergraduate and graduate students at Hiroshima University. Held a recital of all six of E. Ysaÿe's solo violin sonatas in Kyoto and Hiroshima, he was praised for "captivating the hearts of the audience with his stable and precise technique, rich expression and delicate musical composition," and for his recital of all three of R. Schumann's violin sonatas, he was praised for "excellent expression in fast and detailed movements and gentle flow, and powerful expression" (both published in the magazine "Ongaku no Tomo"). He is also active in a wide range of fields, performing with violinist N. Ehrlich, professor at the German National University of Music Karlsruhe, trumpeter R. Friedrich, professor at the same university, and cellist D. Feigin, professor at Tokyo College of Music, as well as performing as a soloist with orchestras and appearing in concerts as a guest concertmaster. In 2022, ALM Kojima Recording released a CD of "All 6 Sonatas for Solo Violin by E. Ysaye", which was praised for "carefully crafting each piece, always maintaining an objective interpretation and a highly pure performance, and responding to all six pieces with stable expressiveness, even though they have different characteristics" (Record Geijutsu Special Selection). It also received praise for "a tense concentration is demonstrated from the first piece to the last, and the music never slackens. The dynamism that flows consistently through all the pieces is highly praised" (Ongaku Gendai Recommended). In March 2025, ALM Kojima Recording released a 2-CD set of "Robert Schumann: All 3 Violin Sonatas / F.A.E. Sonata / Fantaisie Pieces Op. 73 / Three Romances Op. 94".
He studied violin under Nobuaki Tamai, Toshihiko Ichihara, Yoko Tabuchi, Yukiko Ogawa, Chikashi Tanaka, and N. Ehrlich. He studied chamber music under W. J. Jahn. He is currently a professor at the Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Hiroshima University (Music Culture and Education). He was the 16th principal of Hiroshima University Kindergarten from April 2019 to March 2021.
