In addition to surveys of shallow-sea fish fauna in the Tokara Islands (Kagoshima Prefecture) and the Seto Inland Sea (Hiroshima Prefecture), we are also conducting research on the ecology and distribution of the near-threatened mudskipper.
Since 2011, we have been conducting ecological research that contributes to the conservation of the national special natural monument, the giant salamander, in collaboration with local residents and local governments.
In particular, we promote the "Higashi-Hiroshima (Kamo Plateau) Ecomuseum Concept", which regards local resources such as giant salamanders as "exhibits" and considers the entire area as a museum, and carries out activities aimed at achieving both regio
